94 unwed teen parents in Shawnee County with no High School diploma, 188 individuals set to become apart of our welfare system unless something changes…

Topeka Youth for Christ cares and wants to make a difference in the lives of these young people and their babies. Youth for Christ has a program called teen parents that has been around nationally for years, but unfortunately has not been available here in Topeka.

That will change in 2011. We have a Teen Parent Director ready to come on staff once the funds are in place. We have a location to teach these young people 4 hours a day to help them reach the goal of passing their GED test. We even have three of the desired 10 volunteers enlisted. Once a week life-skills will also be taught to the parents. God cares about these young people who need to be redirected and encouraged as they have chosen life.

94 unwed teens and their children await such a program.
